Our framework
The Golden Sankofa framework adopts a "Praxis" way of working.
Praxis means that we learn through doing; much of our work evolves over time as we learn more from the people and communities that we work with. It is different from a practice, which is a static, defined approach to working - we simply cannot work in this way as we’re life-long learners and there is so much wisdom in this world that will enable us to keep growing.
Golden Sankofa’s relationship-based praxis
Our praxis has three components, all underpinned by Sankofa's ‘learn from your past to build for your future’.
Ancestral relationships (learn from the past): understanding how our ancestors have formed us and our relationship to ancestors
Trusted relationships (build): nurturing trusted relationships that are built on spending quality time with people and being honest about what we can achieve collectively
Community relationships (for the future): evolving relationships at a community level through organising and connecting communities to make and influence decisions.
